We help the public sector in Skåne in the areas of health, food and mobility to create better services for Skåne’s residents, create better tools and work processes for employees and the organization, and to increase the ability to innovate and increase the power of change in the organization. For a long time, we’ve contributed to creating and introducing innovations – new, better solutions for residents, employees and society – in and together with Region Skåne and the municipalities in Skåne, and we have done so in collaboration with private companies and academia. It’s our experience that we need everyone involved to achieve the best results.

How it works
Innovation Skåne, as wholly owned by Region Skåne, has a unique mission in using innovation to contribute to create better quality of life for the inhabitants of Skåne as well as the world – because innovations that are useful at home often work just as well in other parts of the world. For a long time, we’ve contributed to creating and introducing innovations – new, better solutions for residents, employees and society – in and together with Region Skåne and the municipalities in Skåne, and we have done so in collaboration with private companies and academia.
Our strength is deep knowledge in the areas of health, food and mobility, extensive experience of working with innovation and our many collaborations with the public and private sector, others in the innovation systems and academia.
We are innovation managers. That means we use innovation to help you in the public sector overcome your challenges. Simply put, we lead change. In general we do it together with other actors who can also contribute to the solution, in all our work we want to stimulate fruitful external collaborations and knowledge sharing because our experience tells us that we need to help each other out to achieve the best results.
In our work, we rely on our four core competences:
- Innovation management: Our tool for leading innovation and development of welfare services of the future
- Growth and business knowledge: Our staff has long and extensive experience from both the public and private sector and is well aware of the challenges – and opportunities – in, for example, regulations, organizational culture and the market.
- Test beds: New solutions need to be tested and adapted during development before they are introduced, in terms of for example technical, clinical, legal or organizational parameters. We help conduct the tests needed.
- Networking: Our extensive network provides us with many opportunities for collaborations in larger projects and opportunities for vast market intelligence which ensures that we make use of what has already been developed and what works.

Are you employed by Region Skåne and have an idea for a product or a service that could improve health or healthcare services, the way we travel or how we produce food, in Skåne or other places around the world? No matter the size of your idea, send it to use via the form below!
If your idea is new, can be beneficial and has commercial potential, we develop it into a new product or service and then pass it on to a private company that can finalize and sell it. As the work with your idea progress, you’d be entitled financial compensation.

Apply for a formal rights letter
Do you, as a Region Skåne employee, wish to develop an idea on your own? Then you need a letter that formally gives you the right to the idea. Contact us via the form below and we’ll help you apply for such a letter. All successful applications are approved and signed by the regional director.

Join our industry networks
We help innovative startups with international ambitions and strong drive to develop into successful businesses. We focus on the areas of health, food and mobility and on startups in Skåne, but we also work together with other businesses from Skåne and with startups and businesses from other parts of Sweden and the world.
Innovation Skåne aim to create better quality of life for the inhabitants of Skåne as well as the world and to use innovative power from Skåne to create sustainable improvements in the world. Therefore, we support startups with new solutions and collaborate with established businesses, the public sector, investors, academia and the rest of the innovation system. It’s our experience that everyone benefits and we achieve the best results when we work together.
